Strixhaven: School of Mages is a Magic: The Gathering setting built around a magical university on the plane of Arcavios.
In the story, Strixhaven University is a place where students train in very different styles of magic. That variety shows up in the set’s identity, which is organized into five colleges, each with its own theme and two-color vibe.
If you don’t know the lore, no worries. You can show up, open cards, build a deck, and have a great time.

50 minutes for deck building, then three rounds at one hour each.

Yes. The event is designed to be welcoming for both newer and experienced players.
No. In a prerelease (Sealed), you build a deck at the event from the cards you open.
Sealed means you open a pool of cards and build a deck from that pool.
Not at all. The theme is fun flavor, but you can jump in even if you’ve never seen Strixhaven before.
Nope. You don’t have to choose a “main college” ahead of time. Just build the best deck you can from what you open.
Dice and a way to track life are helpful. Sleeves are optional.
